Tectonic

Hello All this week we are talking about Plates! Tectonic plates that is.

Finland is located in the Eurasian Tectonic plate, and the country itself is away from the plate boundaries. Due to it's location Finland is fairly stable and does not experience much due to the tectonic plate shifts. The highest recorded seismic activity recorded was a 4.3 earthquake.
Finland is located in the center of something called the Baltic shield. There are 4 shields that are located in the Artic that make up super hard rock that is not easily moved, Baltic(or Scandinavian), Canadian, Angaran, and Aldan. Geologists estimate the rock in this area to be over three billion years old.
And with the plate boundary that is located between North America and Eurasian plate being a divergent plate meaning that it the plates push away from each other. There is not much chance of Finland having to worry about a Tsunami coming and causing disaster along their coast.
